I don't subscribe to the chakra system that originated from India and were first mentioned in the Vedas(ancient sacred texts of spiritual knowledge dating from 1500 to 1000 BC). I do believe however, that there is an overlap in truth (like a venn diagram) between the chakra system and our energy signature (which is a combination of the energy systems of the body, nervous system and innate core).
Each input sense that we experience has specific regions in the body.
Our vision, in the head region (third eye symbology) often depicting non-emotive telepathy. Sometimes felt like a pressure in the middle of the forehead (the region of the frontal lobes and higher reasoning centres of the brain)
Our solar plexus to middle of the chest, a region (called in chakra symbology as the heart and solar plexus) are where we have visceral sensations during emotional experiences. (Which I think may be related to the role of nerve bundles in these regions)
The sacral chakra, symbology shares similarities with the role of nerve bundles in this region(felt during sexual arousal).
The newer and evolving fields of quantum theory give us clues as to what is happening on the atomic and subatomic level, and have a role to play in forming the conscious states that we experience. Even though most of the heavy lifting is done in the brain, the other nerve bundles in the body have a role to play in our conscious experience as well - hence why we get sayings like "gut feelings" or butterflies in our chest. These are all in my opinion, quantum fluctuations in our total energy signature.
