The Conscious and Subconscious Mind
Our subconscious mind includes that which we are yet to know about ourself.
The mind is like an iceberg. The more you are in tune with your authentic self, the higher the iceberg floats on the surface. Over time the subconscious part of your iceberg migrates to the conscious part when we more deeply discover who we are. There is always a subconscious part to our mind as our conscious part can't access all the information of who we are at once. (when we sleep there are neural adaptations that occur in the brain and nervous system that we don't fully understand yet which influences the quality of our consciousness)
Resulting from this, I'd have to say that the subconscious mind is a feature of the processes and structures of the brain and nervous system, while the conscious mind forms part of our consciousness which is an emergent feature of the whole. I believe that there are quantum mechanical processes (or other universal laws {laws of nature} that we are yet to understand) that occur which after death removes the partition between the subconscious and conscious parts of our authentic self.(The whole iceberg is taken out of the water) Spirituality, metaphysics, and science to me are all aspects of universal laws/universal truth.
